In 2015, events aimed at raising public awareness about cancer and early detection of head and neck cancer were held in 27 cities of Russia. As part of the Week, OncoDozors were held at the largest enterprises of Russia, during which factory workers were examined for the presence of tumor and pre-tumor neoplasms. In addition, a number of medical institutions held master classes for specialists working with diseases of the head and neck organs – neurosurgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, otolaryngologists, oncologists, dentists.

Today, head and neck cancer is an acute social problem that requires attention from the state, health authorities, public organizations and the medical community. Speaking about the results of the 3rd European Week of Early Diagnostics, the Director of the Scientific, Educational and Clinical Center for Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery of the First MGMU named after I. Sechenova, RAS Corresponding Member Igor Reshetov said: “Head and neck cancer is really a very dramatic tumor localization, in which a person loses his face, there is complete desocialization. Patients suffering from head and neck neoplasms are sad leaders in degree disability. ”

OncoDozor was held at enterprises
The central event of the 3rd European Week was “OncoDozor at the enterprises” – preventive examinations of employees of the largest factories in Russia in order to detect head and neck diseases. Similar actions under the auspices of NP Equal Right to Life were held at the Irkutsk Oil and Fat Plant, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, two enterprises of the Don Holding Agrocom, and Krasnogorsk Plant named after S. “Any socially oriented enterprise should support such initiatives, since one of the conditions for the effective work of the company is the health of its employees.
