Secret alcoholic: find and neutralize
There is no such thing as “hidden” or “secret” alcoholism in medicine. But increasingly, psychologists and ordinary people use it in relation to people who abuse alcohol and, for various reasons, try to hide their addiction to strong drinks as much as possible. It is clear that nobody is better from this concealment. You will reveal it earlier, you will cure it faster … So, we are looking for and neutralizing it!
Who are the “hidden” alcoholics?
These people, as a rule, do not drink strong or diluted alcohol, such as coffee with cognac. Alcohol is administered in small doses, and more often throughout the day. In my defense, from the patient you can often hear – “I drink a little bit to be in good shape all day. Otherwise, I can’t work.”
Most often, this type of alcoholism occurs in women. This is a type of “female alcoholism.” Women drink alcohol, realizing that it is indecent for them to be drunk “in public.” But alcoholism is a disease that is characterized by an irresistible craving for alcohol and people with illness cannot independently give up alcohol.
